Race report by Peter Harder

The www.hrcr.dk club north of Copenhagen was also this year host for a great Xray Challenge in 1:8 offroad. It was a one day race and due limited time only 60 drivers were alowed to sign up – but it was a strong field with many top drivers from Scandinavia: Michael Palsson, Christoffer Svensson, Robert Gustavsson, Peter Harder.

The weather was dry but only around 10 degrees. 3 rounds of qualification and 2 to count and 1 practice round in the morning were on the schedule. The first round was won by Michael Palsson/Mugen followed by Claus Nielsen/Xray. Second round was won by Peter Harder/Xray. Third round was close and went to Claus Nielsen/Xray.

When we started the day the track was good and not bumpy but when we came to the semi’s it was really bumpy and a lot of driver’s had problems finding the right lines. Personally I had problems in my semi but managed to take second. For the final I decided to change the rear shocks from 1,5mm 400 oil to 1,5mm 300 and still keep the front with 1,4mm 400 oil. I also raised the rear dampers and what a difference that made. In the final warm up I could drive aggressive and push the car to the limit. Also on the jumps the car was good – at the big table top where almost every body takes it in two steps I could easily do it one and it showed to be for the whole 45 minutes final.

Among the 10 finalist there were 3 Xray drivers – Robert Gustavsson with starting position 2, Peter Harder with pos. 3 and Joakim Hasson with pos. 8.

Right from start it was Michael Palsson, Rubert Gustavsson and Peter Harder who pooled away and it was a great fight. The positions changed a lot and people were shouting when a new driver took the lead. After around 15 minutes I had a small gap and the lead until about 30 minutes of driving when Robert Gustavsson again got close. With about 5 minutes left Robert made some small mistakes and I could drive home the victory with a 9 sec avenged.

Final results:

1. Peter Harder - XRAY XB8TQ
2. Robert Gustavsson - XRAY XB8TQ

3. Michael Pålsson - Mugen
4. Fredrik Mathiesen - Kyosho
5. Niclas Brunsberg - Kyosho
6. Michael Jönsson - Kyosho
7. David Ronnefalk - Kyosho
8. Rune Gustavsen - Mugen
9. Joakim Hansson - XRAY XB8TQ
10. Stefan Larsson - Crono

A great race for Xray taking TOP 1 & 2. My Xray XB8 TQ and Novarossi Plus 21-5 did perfect and this combination was FAST.

Thanks to my dad and Claus Nielsen for some fast refueling – after all we had to do one extra compared to Robert Gustavsson.

Next week we have the first round of the Danish Championship and I hope that the speed can continue.
